Claire Jolivet, violinist, has performed extensively in North America and Europe as a chamber musician, recitalist and soloist. She plays regularly with orchestras and chamber ensembles in the New York area, and has toured in South America with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. She has appeared as soloist with the Bach Aria Festival Orchestra in New York, and with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra. As a chamber musician, Ms. Jolivet has collaborated with such distinguished artists as Joseph Kalichstein, Paula Robison, and Kathleen Battle. She is the founder and Artistic Director of the Crested Butte Chamber Music Festival in Colorado. Her interest in the violin repertoire from the 17th and 18th centuries has recently led her to explore and study period performance practice. Playing baroque violin, she has appeared with such ensembles as the Smithsonian Chamber Players, The Publick Musick, Bach Works, Ars Antiqua, as well as the Four Nations Ensemble, with whom she is a frequent guest. Ms. Jolivet has been a participant in numerous summer music festivals, including the Aldeburgh Festival (England), the Aspen Music Festival, the Bach Aria Festival, the Chautuaqua Institute, the International Festival of Arts and Ideas (New Haven, CT), the International Musicians Seminar in Cornwall, England, and the Madeira Bach Festival in Portugal. She began her violin studies in England with Pamela Spofforth, and is a graduate of the Juilliard School where she studied with Dorothy DeLay. She has recorded on the Deutsche Harmonia Mundi and EMEC labels. |
