Heidi Powell



Violinis Heidi Powell is quickly gaining prominence as a leader and soloist on baroque violin.

She has served as concertmaster for the Washington Bach Consort, Brandywine Baroque, and San Francisco Bach Choir. Heidi has appeared as soloist with the New York Collegium, Rebel, Tafelmusik, Smithsonian Chamber Players, The Washington Bach Consort, and on the upcoming Disney movie soundtrack for "Casanova."

She has performed with the Boston Early Music Festival Orchestra at Tanglewood, The Orchestra of St. Lukes at Caramoor and as a soloist on NPR Performance Today.

Heidi holds an Artist Diploma in baroque violin from the Oberlin Conservatory and a Bachelor of Music in violin performance from the Indiana University School of Music.

The New York Times recently described her solo violin playing as "deft" in a performance with the New York Collegium and hailed her prize-winning performance in the American Bach Soloists' International Baroque Violin Competition as "supremely confident and powerful."

When not performing elsewhere, Heidi enjoys teaching violin & chamber music in Blue Hill, Maine and organizing the local chamber music concert series: "The Woo Downeast Presents."
