Telemann and His World

  • First Parish in Concord 20 Lexington Road Concord, MA, 01742 United States

2017 marks the 250th anniversary of Georg Philipp Telemann’s death, one of the Baroque era’s most prolific and popular composers.  A cosmopolitan traveller, his music displays a consummate and persuasive understanding of the French and Italian national styles, as well as an appreciation of folk influences from his time spent in Poland.  Sarasa’s opening concerts for the 2017-18 season present Telemann’s music in the context of the influences by his predecessors and contemporaries, joined by leading British period instrumentalists.

Music by Telemann, Händel, Lully, Corelli, Campra, JS Bach

Annabel Knight, recorders and flute; Richard Earle, oboe; Alison Bury, violin; Timothy Merton & Jennifer Morsches, cellos & piccolo cello; Robin Bigwood, harpsichord
