Interview with videographer Gregorio León
Violist Marka Gustavsson has performed internationally in the US, Canada, Europe, Israel, the Philippines, China, and Japan. On May 20th and 21st, she will be joining Sarasa for the first time in a program of Russian Romantic music. She recently agreed to talk with us about her musical life. Sarasa’s March, 2017 “Trainspotting” concert set will feature a video presentation to accompany the performance of Steve Reich’s Different Trains, for string quartet and pre-recorded performance tape. On hand to manage the projection of the video images will be Emerson College student Gregorio León. Gregorio has won the Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild’s award for excellence in projection during Ridge’s production of Anon(ymous). In his senior year at Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School, he directed a ten-minute rendition of Babel’s in Arms by David Ives, and assisted in producing Our Truths, a student-written and performed one-act play.

This setting of “My Mother on an Evening in Late Summer” for voice, oboe, harp & string quartet was commissioned by the Sarasa Chamber Music Ensemble and premiered May 21st and 22nd, 2016 in Cambridge and Concord, Massachusetts.

Sarasa's Jennifer Morsches is on the cover of this month's Early Music Today featuring Florilegium - one of Britain’s most outstanding period instrument ensembles.
