Claude Monet Maison de jardinier (1884); private collection

Sarasa Music recently enjoyed an exhilarating end to our 2025-26 season, celebrating the musical legacy of the extended Bach family. With capacity audiences at our three venues, we explored works for oboe, strings and continuo, with a special guest appearance by the intimate clavichord, an instrument that was widely admired in the 18th century, especially in the Bach family. If you missed the live performances or would like to watch it all over again in the comfort of your own home, the program will be streaming on our website and YouTube channel for free starting Thursday, May 21st at 7:30pm. Please share with your friends, colleagues, and family members! And don’t forget to let us know who YOUR favorite Bach composer is!

A daily dose of J.S. Bach

Catalan cellist Pablo Casals wrote “For the past 80 years I have started each day in the same manner. It is not a mechanical routine but something essential to my daily life. I go to the piano, and I play two preludes and fugues of Bach. I cannot think of doing otherwise. It is a sort of benediction on the house. Each day is something new, fantastic, unbelievable. That is Bach, like nature, a miracle!

The first reviews are in!

“An enjoyable and insightful Bach family affair with Sarasa Ensemble … a night full of fascinating insights and stirring musicianship.”

-The Boston Classical review

Leaning in…

Sarasa enjoyed leaning in to Johann Sebastian Bach’s Double Concerto for oboe, violin, strings and bass continuo, BWV 1060R at Friends Meeting House in Cambridge.

Sarasa also shared a boisterous beat in Johann Bernhard Bach’s Ouverture-Suite No. 2 in G major.

Speaking of beat, DRUMROLL, please!!
